i-SRS (Supplementary Restraint System)

What

A development of the standard airbag Supplementary Restraint System (SRS). i-SRS controls front airbag and front seat belt pretensioner deployment, in a way that ensures optimum occupant protection according to the severity of a frontal collision. The system will also send an unlock signal to all doors 10 seconds after deployment of any air bag or pretensioner.

Why
A standard SRS system deploys the airbag(s) (and seatbelt pretensioner's when fitted) according to a preset deceleration force.

i-SRS independently deploys both seat belt pretensioner's, and two stages of driver's and passengers airbag. All according to four deceleration conditions and if the seat belts are in use or not. By controlling deployment to suit varying collision conditions i-SRS ensures optimum occupant protection while minimising the risk of airbag-inflicted injuries.

How
The four frontal impact deceleration conditions are:

Very slow, Slow, Middle, High.

Very slow	No deployment.	Due to absorbing ability of front bumper unit/ seat belt restraint.
Slow	Both seatbelts in.	Seat belt pretensioners only.
	Drivers seatbelt only.	Seat belt pretensioners, plus slow deployment of passengers airbag.
	No belts worn.	Seat belt pretensioners, plus deployment of drivers air bag and slow deployment of passengers airbag.
Middle	Both seatbelts in use or not.	Seat belt pretensioners, plus deployment of drivers airbag and slow deployment of passengers airbag.
High	Both seatbelts in use or not.	Seat belt pretensioners plus fast deployment of drivers and passengers airbag.
